With the theme: “CHARTING TRUTH: JOURNALISM AS A CATALYST OF POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE Media LANDSCAPE OF 2024”,, Isabela City Schools Division in collaboration with Division Schools Press Advisers Association (DSPAA) conducted 2024 Division Schools Press Conference on February 22-23 with Isabela Central Elementary Pilot School (ICEPS) as host school.
A multitude of campus scribes from elementary and secondary schools in Isabela City shared their stories, keeping their fingers crossed and aspiring for the top 3 RSPC qualifying slots at the Regional Schools Press Conference.
This year’s presscon keynote speaker in the opening program, Atty. Yara A. Musa, a former NSPC qualifier and campus writer of Basilan NHS, renewed her focus on the impact of press conferences on her life
Every year, the brightest squirts from Hapisabela City shall lose a foot to make it through in the Regional and national press conferences. The 2024 DSPC has been declared open by ASDS Maria Laarni Torres Villanueva. She recollected her campus journalism moment and felt nostalgic about it as she wrapped up and reflected.
Josiah F. Tuballa, currently, School principal II of Isabela Central Elementary Pilot School, which has been hosting DSPC for three years. The school’s opulent accommodations, venue, and other amenities were evidence of Tuballa’s unwavering support.
SPAs and CJs were thrilled when Schools Division Superintendent Jay Montealto, Ed D, JD, CESO V, visited. Montealto’s brief message included as he mentioned of his historic moment as coach in sports writing. He emphasized the importance of campus journalism in shaping the future of these young and promising student journalists.
DSPAA and TWG revealed group and overall winners both individual and group category with ICEPS and BNHS as the Overall Champion, while IECES , Begang NHS, First Runner-Up, and JJIS, ICNHS, Second Runner -Up.
Meanwhile, Division CID Chief Henry Tura Ed D, lauded DSPAA, TWGs, coaches and teachers for the huge success of theso-called “Olympics of the intellectuals”.
